What it Means to be Born Again

In John 3:1-10, Jesus was having a discussion with Nicodemus.

In verse 5, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of Water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." We can see the fulfillment of how to be born of the Water and Spirit from a reply to a question asked of the Apostles in Acts 2:37-39;

37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

We believe according to the scriptures that a person must repent, be baptized in Jesus' Name, and receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost in order to completely fulfill the steps of salvation.

"In 1981, I joined the Air Force and received orders to the Philippines where someone invited me to a Pentecostal church. It was there, at the age of 20, I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and my calling to the ministry. Over the past 3 decades, I have held several positions throughout the Texas and South Texas Districts, but I am most esteemed to have been voted in as Pastor of First UPC San Antonio. On behalf of my wife, Rose, and my daughters, Hannah and Ruth, we count it an honor to serve this church."
